The SMART STOP project proposes the study, design and prototyping of a high-tech platform dedicated to monitoring and data collection in smart mobility. The project provides a prototype for bringing quality improvement to logistics management processes in an urban mobility context, thereby increasing the efficiency and safety of service use and measuring the value created on the ground. The solution has been validated on Genoa’s public transport network.

Circle Garage provided a custom Internet of Things platform tailored specifically for the project. The platform enabled the collection, transmission and storage of data and its visualization. Circle Garage participated in the deployment of applications to improve automations of public transportation processes in Genoa.

The platform provided the ready-to-use software tools for:

  • Collect data from heterogeneous sources (including industrial IoT – IIoT devices) through secure, high-performance and scalable communication channels
  • Integrate, monitor and interact with data in real time (Aggregated Data Analytics)
  • Receive alerts and alarms on customizable communication channels (email, Slack and SMS);
  • Deploy applications to add intelligence to data by effecting remote deployment of microservices (including third-party Machine Learning services) to edge devices, cloud or field (on-premise) environments.

Digital and Sustainable Harbour 2030 (DSH2030) has enabled the development of a system that, by integrating and applying the latest ICT technologies (IoT, AI, Big Data), has realized a new model of management and service delivery for the Porto Antico area of Genoa.

DSH2030 aims to have a positive impact on all users of the area (employees, citizens, tourists, businesses) from a strongly user-centric perspective through the application of Smart City-Industry 4.0 logics.

Circle Garage is involved in all phases of the project starting from the definition of the requirements and KPIs needed for the validation of the Digital Twin to the support in the design of the system and control room of the Old Port area to continue in the preparation of the IoT platform setup and the deployment of the applications of interest. Circle Garage contributed to the launch of the platform and applications by providing support for coordination activities and contributing to the management of activities and resources.
